Seasons

This evocative poem captures the cycles of love, heartbreak, and healing, mirroring the changing seasons. From the budding hope of spring to the warmth of summer love, the poem delves into the pain of autumn's loss and the desolation of winter. Yet, amidst the sorrow, there is a quiet reassurance that healing is inevitable, just as seasons change. It is a heartfelt exploration of the impermanence of emotions and the resilience of the human spirit.

The flowers are blooming as the rains slowly stop

The soft breeze as the bees start to emerge

She always had it in her head that she couldn’t be loved

As much as she yearned for it, she was scared

Until she met him

At first glance she knew that this was going to be different

That she was going to have to face her fears

“I’m scared, I think I’m falling in love.

I am happy for her

That the seasons are changing
The days stretch for longer as her love grows stronger

Beach days, lake trips, strawberry picking

He seems to be the love of her life

She sees the children on the streets play

The plans for their future runs through her head

She daydreams the possibilities as she imagines what’s to come

The blazing summer sun and then it actually happens!

“He proposed, I’m engaged, a winter wedding with my soulmate”

I fear if she knows

The seasons do change

The leaves fall as the temperature slowly drops

Pumpkin patches and she can wear her favorite sweater again

A gust of wind blows the leaves as he slowly drifts away

She tries to hold onto something that isn’t there

Although his presence is there, his mind is not

She notices, not bringing it up, hoping that nothing will change

Her nightmare comes true as he tells her that they need to talk

“He found someone else, I wasn’t the one”

I reckon she gave up

These seasons never change

The winter air brushes against her but her pain is still there

No leaves on the trees

The feeling when she just wants to cry and let her anger take over

When she thinks about what was supposed to happen

The flowers dead and gone

The fog brings the gloom upon her

Her heart yearns for the person gone from her life

“My pain isn’t going to end, it’s forevermore like the winter air”

I hope she knows

The seasons will change

Once again the flowers will bloom

She will watch them knowing nothing is guaranteed

The bumblebees still fly as she is slowly healing

“But there’s still an ache in my heart”

I promise it will all be over soon
